I genuinely freaked out (in a good way) when I taste tested this Creamy Avocado Tahini Sauce recipe. I couldn’t wait to share it. It is creamy, savory, lemony, garlicky and is SO good. I usually love tahini lemon sauces but this one is in another league. The secret is the avocado and almond milk because they make it super creamy and smooth.
Originally, I made this sauce to dip my falafel in but I could probably eat it by the spoonful on its own.
What else can you use Creamy Avocado Tahini Sauce for?
- Quinoa Tabbouleh
- Falafel Bowls
- Salad dressing (add oil to lighten the consistency)
- Spread on a wrap, sandwich, or burger
- Sauce for grain bowls
- Dip for veggies, chips, pita bread, etc.
- Drizzled over sweet potatoes (or regular, I’m just biased for sweet)
You can use it on pretty much anything.
If you haven’t ever had tahini, it is just a super dense paste (almost like a nut butter) made from ground up sesame seeds. You can buy it at most stores and it’s usually in the same aisle as nut butters. I haven’t attempted to make my own tahini yet but the Daring Gourmet has a great post on how to make your own tahini paste.
Traditional tahini sauce is just tahini, water, lemon juice and garlic. For this Creamy Avocado Tahini Sauce recipe, I added herbs, almond milk, avocado, and spices which are usually common themes in my recipes because I really can’t get enough of these ingredients.
Once you try it, I’m sure you’ll be putting this lemony, garlicky, creamy goodness on just about everything. Feel free to leave a comment below letting me know how you used it; I’d love to hear what you put it on.
