Nut butters are critical in smoothies….am I right?
Bananas and nut butters are my ride or die smoothie ingredients. I am not the biggest fan of super fruity smoothies (I’m sorry but I feel nut butters are a critical ingredient. Am I right?). But, I wanted to shake things up from my norm for this recipe. I am someone with an addictive personality and can definitely get caught up in wanting to keep things the same. But I know it’s good for me to push myself out of my comfort zone sometimes; even if it’s just a small change of ingredients in my smoothies. For me, that’s a win.
My go to smoothie is almost always almond butter, banana, almond milk, spinach and avocado. I rarely ever put berries. But ya’ll I’ve gone cray with this smoothie recipe and added strawberries and used peanut butter instead (and skipped the spinach!). I know….such a shake up right? It’s baby steps you guys and I am proud of myself for trying something new. My intuition told me it was time for a change.
And let me tell ya, this smoothie did not disappoint. It’s creamy AF and the flavor is ON POINT.
Do you listen to your intuition when making food choices? For me, intuitive eating has completely transformed my relationship with food. I used to live by so many food rules (I can’t eat this, I should eat that, etc). It was sooo exhausting. But once I stopped listening to outside sources to dictate my eating and tuned into my body’s innate wisdom, everything changed. Physically, I feel so much better because I’m actually listening to what works for my body. But more important, my mind feels better. I feel free. I am not weighed down by constant thoughts about food and my body anymore. I have so much more mental space for the things in my life that actually matter. Food freedom feels so good.
